AP source: Armstrong tells Oprah Winfrey he doped

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — After a decade of denial, Lance Armstrong has finally come clean: He used performance-enhancing drugs to win the Tour de France.

The disgraced cyclist made the confession to Oprah Winfrey during an interview taped Monday, a person familiar with the situation told The Associated Press. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the interview is to be broadcast Thursday on Winfrey’s network.

The admission Monday came hours after an emotional apology by Armstrong to the Livestrong charity that he founded and took global on the strength of his celebrity as a cancer survivor who came back to win one of sport’s most grueling events.

The confession was a stunning reversal, after years of public statements, interviews and court battles in which he denied doping and zealously protected his reputation.

Mr. Armstrong needs money badly now. He will confess, all right. He will confess for anything. As long as he is paid for the confession.

They all blood dope, when the medicine to increase the production of red blood-cells came the game was lost. Either you do it and you’ll be able to compete with the best (who many, if not most/all)or you’ll have to compete with the once who don’t use, and they don’t get famous and they don’t get $$$. I think it’s unfair but that’s how it is. I wish that people could be even but genetics and medication play too big of a role. I have a wimpy build, my kids will never be able to compete professionally in powerlifting f.x. and even if i was built like a troll there would be someone on the same tier who would be doping and winning!

The thing about Armstrong is, he didn’t just break the rules and lie about it all these years. When a British newspaper wrote a story about it he sued them for libel and got over a million dollars from them. That makes him a heel in my book.
